48 hours to save a mother and her three babies

On the night of October 12, Susan found a tiny family of four curled together in an alley behind a Walmart — a mother cat with three very young kittens huddled close against her.

The mother looked worn down, her fur dirty and disheveled. Her kittens were visibly vulnerable, and at least one had heavy crusting around its eyes. Susan couldn't leave them behind. She gathered them up and brought them home into Furry Foundation's care. She named their mother Clementine — Mama Clemmie.

Clementine is severely dehydrated and malnourished, with a complicated upper respiratory infection and possible secondary pneumonia or systemic infection. Her illness may be reducing her milk, which puts her babies at even greater risk.

Her three kittens are battling severe eye and respiratory infections, with possible corneal damage. At this age they can quickly become cold, hypoglycemic and dehydrated, and are at risk of fading kitten syndrome. They may need incubator support, supplemental feeding, fluids, medication or hospitalization.

Now Mama Clementine and her three babies finally have a chance at a safer future — but only if their care can be paid for.

The Flying Bird Cat Toy in motion

The Flying Bird in action

About the Flying Bird Cat Toy

The Flying Bird is a handmade cat toy that darts, flutters and stops at floor level like real prey. It's USB-rechargeable, runs 3–4 hours on a charge, and Susan builds every one herself before it ships.

Unpredictable, floor-level motion

Moves like real prey — a dip, a flutter, a sudden stop — often enough to draw out even a cat who's shut down.

Gentle enough for scared or recovering cats

No loud noise, no sudden lunges. Built for cats who are still deciding whether people are safe.

Most cats respond within the first few sessions

Every cat is different. If yours doesn't engage within 60 days, Susan will refund you in full — no questions asked.

Handbuilt one at a time, in Susan's home

No factory, no assembly line. Susan builds and inspects every single toy herself before it ships.

Don't need a cat toy?

If you already have plenty of toys, you can still help keep Clementine and the other cats fed, warm and in treatment. Every amount helps.

Processed securely · goes straight into the cats' care

From the maker

A note from Susan Briggs

“I started making these toys because I kept fostering cats who'd stopped trusting people, and I needed something — anything — that could reach them before I could. It was never meant to become a business. It became one because it worked, and because it let me fund the rescue work I actually care about. There's no shelter behind me: it's my house, a handful of volunteers, and whatever the cats need that week.”

— Susan —

Susan Briggs runs Furry Foundation out of her own home. There is no shelter building and no staff — just Susan, a few volunteers, spare rooms full of recovering cats, and the Flying Bird Cat Toys she builds and inspects by hand, one at a time.

“My 12-year-old rescue had barely moved off the couch in a year. This got her onto the floor within a week. I wasn't expecting that at all.”

“We adopted a cat who'd clearly had a rough start — wouldn't come near us for the first month. This toy was the first thing that got her curious instead of scared.”

★★★★★

“Bought this after reading Clementine's story and wasn't sure my own cat would even care. She's obsessed. Knowing it supports an actual rescue made it an easy yes.”

“My senior cat has arthritis and doesn't jump anymore. This works right at floor level so she can still play without straining herself. Small thing, big difference.”

Common questions

Before you order.

Does my purchase actually help the cats?

Yes. 100% of the profit from every Flying Bird sold through this page goes directly into Furry Foundation's rescue work — food, shelter and veterinary care. This isn't a percentage donated after costs; it's the entire purpose of this page.

Is Furry Foundation a shelter or a registered nonprofit?

No. Furry Foundation isn't a shelter and isn't a registered nonprofit. It's Susan Briggs working out of her own home with a handful of volunteers, so purchases and tips are not tax-deductible donations.

Will this work for a scared or traumatized cat?

It's who Susan built it for. The Flying Bird operates entirely at floor level — no loud noise, no sudden lunges. Some cats engage immediately; others take a few sessions before their trust catches up to their instincts. If your cat hasn't responded within 60 days, you get a full refund.

When does it ship?

Every order ships next business day via USPS Priority Mail with full tracking. The USB-rechargeable battery provides 3–4 hours of continuous play and charges fully in 2 hours. Charging cable included in every order.

Can I help without buying a toy?

Yes — use the tip option on this page, or add a tip at checkout. Every amount goes directly to the cats in Susan's home.

60DayGuarantee

"I build every one of these by hand and I stand behind every single one. If your cat doesn't respond within 60 days — for any reason — email me and I will refund you in full. No forms. No return shipping. No hoops. I built this to help cats, not to take money from people who trusted me." — Susan
